At this point, is it even worth it to set a date for going back to the office?
People are still working from home with no return to “normal” in mind, and for others, their temporary WFH jobs are now a permanent deal. So…whether you like it or not, you might as well make the best of it. And there are plenty of positives to working from home (midday naps, anyone?).
If you’re not that crazy about being at the house, or you could just use some way to make it better, here are five things you can do to make working from home more enjoyable!
1. Don’t wear your pajamas all day.
You might wonder what this has to do with WFH, but putting on some real clothes makes all the difference in your energy levels and how you take on the day. Try it, and see if you work better dressed up.
2. Leave the house.
Just because you’re working remotely doesn’t mean you can’t leave the house. If it’s social interaction or working around other productive people that you’re craving, head out to a local coffee shop or coworking space to get your work done.
3. Set a hard finishing time.
If one of the reasons you don’t like WFH is because you work more, do yourself a favor and set a definitive end time for the day. It’s easy to keep chugging along when you don’t physically have to leave the office, so stop yourself from overworking by setting boundaries.
4. Find your productive hours.
No one is 100% motivated at all hours of the day, so find your peak productive hours, and get your work done then. It’s okay to take breaks or work on easier assignments when you feel a lull in your energy levels.
5. Take advantage of the freedom.
Do what you couldn’t do in the office at home! Hang out with your dog while working, use your break to run errands, or play your favorite music in the background.
When WFH, it’s your office, your rules. So do what you will with that, and make the best of it.
